Maciste is deeply rooted in history. These wines embody all the strength and the essence of the Appassimento technique, whose origin dates back to ancient times. Practised already by the Ancient Romans, this process has been used to give depth and intensity to some of the best wines of Italy. The harvest is delayed to allow the grapes to dry in the sun on the vines, in order to produce an extraordinary concentration of colours, aromas and flavours in the wines. These qualities are symbolized and represented by Maciste, a mythological character, who became the Italian icon of powerful strength, emphasizing the perception of complexity and power when sipping these wines.

Full and persistent, with a perfect balance between soft tannins and acidity.
Ideal in combination with roasted red meats and mature cheeses.
VINIFICATION: The grapes are subjected to a drying process on the plant: they are left to over-ripen (over-ripening) on the vine, and therefore harvest is delayed 10 to 30 days depending on the production area.
